One day, I read in a local newspaper (lameuse) that there would be a military day on the 7th of August in the fortress of Lantin (small explanation can be found here in French), near Liege.
It turned out to be a one of a kind experience with more than a hundred vintage military vehicles driving around, people dressed in military clothing from the world wars, with guns and accessories, trucks, tanks, plane... It was very nice for all of us to see this, and the entrance fee was 1 Euro per adult and children for free. So the total entrance fee for 4 people (including Godfather of Ben, Dave) was 2 Euro, for an unforgettable experience.
Jojo and Ben loved it and wanted pictures of all the vehicles, like ALL vehicles. But don't worry, we just selected a few to give you a good idea of what a wonderful day we had.

A wonderful day in a 13th Century church, it was finally time for the baptizing of Jojo and Ben. Pere Francois, the priest of the village, has done a wonderful job, not making it too long for the children (and the adults) and doing it in a non-boring way. Jojo and Ben were behaving absolutely fantastic, which makes their parents very proud. And afterwards, the big afternoon lunch-dinner, set outside on the terrace, with everybody drinking, eating and chatting. What more can you ask for, thank you.
Please have a look at the pictures below and see what a wonderful day it was.
I would like to thank Tio Carlos for the pictures has patiently taken, I would like to thank Sanny for the seemingly unlimited supply of the drinks, I would like to thank Tonton for all the material and support, I would like to thank my wife and Sarena for the seemingly unlimited supply of food (which was in fact enough for the whole village), I would like to thank all the godfathers and godmothers for being there and being part of this wonderful ceremony, I would like to thank all visitors for their presence, support and gifts and I would like to thank Pere Francois for the baptizing. If I have forgotten someone, well, thank you too.
Just wanted to let you all know, whoever is interested in the history of Taiwan, you should watch the movie "Formosa Betrayed", not to be confused by the book.
A compelling thriller about a 1983 Taiwan where democracy is a dream, far far away.
Why is this here? Because Jojo and Ben are half-Taiwanese and they too will see this movie (a little later) to make sure they know what has happened in the past and to compare to the modern-life society of today, where voting and freedom of speech is allowed.

A 1 picture quick post of the 2 boys swimming in the Landen swimming pool. Landen is very nearby our plac (click here for map). Last week Tuesday, the guys decided to go for a swim and it was a lot of fun. Not too many people and the water was warm, which is kind of rare in municipal pools in Belgium. And as you may see on the picture, they were very happy.
Right next to the swimming pool of Landen, you have a large park with basket ball courts, walking area, football area, running area, fitness part and a lot of nature. Absolutely fantastic and we didn't know about it. We will surely come back soon.

On the 26th of May, we all went to the exposition hall 5 in Brussels to watch BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs. It was absolutely fantastic for all of us, giant dinosaurs walking around and fighting, in a reality never seen before. It was a fantastic experience we ofcourse have to share with you, this is a 5 minute video of several parts of the show, including brachiosaurus, t-rex, pteranodon and others. A day to never forget. Check it out.
For those who are interested, there is now a very good website with historic pictures and postcards of Taiwan, with pictures under Japanese rule and Qing Dinasty rule.

On the 5th of April (wow, finally a recent post...), we decided to go to the Dam of Gileppe, the oldest in Europe (Inaugurated in 1878). For more information on the Dam, go to http://en.structurae.de/structures/data/index.cfm?id=s0012833. Amazingly, this dam is only 50 minutes away from our home. We will surely come back as this is an absolutely amazing place. Afterwards, we decided to head for Monschau, in Germany, only 20 minutes away from the dam. A beautiful little town in a valley, for more information on Monschau, go to http://www.monschau.de/tourist-information/. Absolutely recommended, outside busy tourist season, like now... As you may know or not, the pictures are now embedded in the post, so below this (maybe boring) text, you will find the pictures for your navigation. Enjoy.
Have a nice evening, day or morning, wherever you are.
